The race for Qatar and Iran to boost production from the North Dome/South Pars field will continue over the coming years.
The field, which is shared by the two countries, is referred to as North Dome on the Qatari side and South Pars on the Iranian side. In April, Qatar decided to lift a self-imposed moratorium on developing new production capacity at North Dome. A new project was approved at the field that would have a production capacity of 56.6 MMcm/d, equating to around 12% of Qatar’s marketed gas output in 2016.
