The first phase of Oman’s Khazzan gas project is on track to come online in late 2017.
Khazzan will help Oman’s efforts to boost its non-associated gas production. Project operator BP has drilled the 50 wells required for Khazzan’s first phase. The second phase has yet to receive approval, but first production is expected in 2020. The two phases will add a combined 42.45 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) to the sultanate’s gas supplies. GGA forecasts Oman’s marketed gas production will increase by 2% on an annual basis in 2017, to 35.2 bcm.
