The diplomatic rift between Qatar and some of its Gulf neighbours has the potential to dent the appetite for Qatari LNG among consumers in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Libya and Yemen have severed their diplomatic and trade relations with Qatar, blaming Doha for destabilising the region by promoting what they regard as terrorist organisations such as the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State and al-Qaeda. Meanwhile, Qatar has said it regrets the decision, calling it unjustified and baseless.
