Recently installed FSRUs in Turkey and Abu Dhabi will help the MEA’s LNG imports grow in 2017.

Turkey started importing LNG using its first FSRU at the Port of Izmir in December. The GDF Suez Neptune has a regasification capacity of 5.75 mtpa and will complement Turkey’s two existing LNG terminals, Aliaga and Marmara Ereglisi, which have a combined capacity of 9.6 mtpa. However, the FSRU is expected to be underutilised, as is the case with the two land-based terminals.
