The MEA’s focus on non-associated gas production will increase in the coming years as the region’s gas demand grows.
Oman is focusing on boosting production from its Khazzan tight gas project as gas demand in the sultanate rises. In November, the Omani government signed an agreement with the Khazzan project partners – BP and Oman Oil Co. – to develop its second phase. The first phase of the project is due to start production by the end of 2017 and will have a maximum capacity of 28.3 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d). The second phase will add 14.15 MMcm/d by the end of 2020.
