Middle East & Africa: Consumption

November 2016

The MEA’s gas demand is expected to rise in 2016 and 2017, keeping the region dependent on imported LNG.

The total gas demand of the key MEA countries – Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Nigeria, Yemen, Libya, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members – rose by 3.2% on an annual basis in the first eight months of 2016, to 448.3 billion cubic metres. GGA expects this figure to increase by 3.7% in 2016 as a whole, to 647.3 bcm, and by 3.8% in 2017.
