Upstream spending cuts in the MEA region have resulted in a drop in active rig counts, which will limit growth in regional gas production in the coming months.
The key MEA countries had 445 active oil and gas rigs in February 2016, down from 471 in February 2015. Marketed gas production in the key countries increased by 1.4% on an annual basis in 2015, to 740.7 bcm. GGA expects it to rise by 1.4% on an annual basis in H1 2016, to 383.1 bcm.
