The popularity of gas in the Middle East and Africa is increasing, and the region’s dependence on gas will deepen during the peak summer demand season in the northern hemisphere.
The combined gas demand from key MEA countries – the GCC states, Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Nigeria, Yemen and Libya – rose by 2.4% on an annual basis in 2015, to 587.1 billion cubic metres. GGA expects this figure to increase by 2.6% in H1 2016 from a year earlier, to 309.9 bcm.
