Europe & Russia: Trade

August 2017

Gazprom’s exports to Europe are set to rise in August and access to increased capacity on OPAL will now be available.

Europe is expected to import roughly 16 bcm of Russian gas in August, a 12% increase on an annual basis. This follows gains in July, when Russian exports to Europe rose by 15.4% year on year, to reach 15 bcm. Further growth in Russian supplies to Europe is likely over the remainder of the year. Even without further year-on-year gains in H2, Russia is on course to send record volumes of gas to Europe in 2017. Russia exported around 179.3 bcm to Europe last year and an annual increase of at least 8% is expected in 2017.
