The injection season is underway in Europe, but UK volumes are low and will remain so as Rough will be closed for injections until May 2018.
Rough, the UK’s largest gas storage facility, accounting for around 70% of the country’s storage capacity will now be closed to injections through April 2018. This will weigh on the UK’s gas demand through the current injection season and will leave stocks for Rough, and the country, low going into next winter. Rough is currently 11% full, and while it is still open to withdrawals, this will also be subject to review over the coming months as technical issues continue at the aging facility.
