UK demand is rebounding after a decline at the start of the year, helping to balance declines elsewhere in the region.

Gas demand growth in the UK and Germany looks set to balance declines in other major European markets in H1. UK gas demand has benefited from increased power sector offtake. Total demand in Q1 is estimated to have risen by around 3% year on year, boosted by an estimated 10% increase in demand in March that outweighed declines in demand seen at the start of the year as a result of the mild winter. German gas demand rose by around 8% year on year in January. These increases are helping to balance declines elsewhere.
