Spot LNG prices

Increased imports are driving up spot prices in the region, with prices for early Q1 delivery now over $10/MMBtu.

The boom in China’s spot LNG purchases – the volume of which more than trebled in October compared with October 2016, to reach 1.3 mt – has helped to force up regional spot prices in Northeast Asia. Some cargoes for Q1 delivery have been over $10/MMBtu, while many have been around $9.5-10/MMBtu. This rise has seen average December spot prices increase by around 39% year on year.
