As China’s gasification plans drive up demand, Taiwan and South Korea will also help boost an expected increase in Northeast Asian offtake this winter.
China’s gas demand is expected to reach roughly 246 billion cubic metres in 2017, an increase of approximately 19% year on year. The success of the government’s programme to push coal-to-gas switching has helped drive up gas consumption. Strong growth is anticipated over the winter, even though Beijing has scaled back the roll-out of its switching plans.
