Asia Pacific: Economic overview

The economic outlook has improved for some of the region’s largest economies.

China’s GDP is forecast to grow by around 6.7% this year. This is the same level as last year and higher than a previous forecast of 6.5%. China’s economy is expected to expand by 6.4% next year, up from a previous forecast of 6.2%. Improved demand for exports is helping to boost the country’s economic outlook. Chinese gas demand has continued to boom in recent months, and the government’s push to switch from coal to gas over the winter is expected to support continued strong growth. The improved economic outlook will support growth in China’s gas demand.
