Further growth in Chinese gas production will support Asian output this year.

Chinese gas output rose by 10% on an annual basis in August. Although this represents strong growth, it is lower than the increases seen earlier in the summer. China’s gas supply boomed by 19% year on year in June and by 16% on an annual basis in July after more moderate growth earlier in the year. The government is pushing for increased domestic gas production to cater to growing demand. Although China’s output is expected to increase over the coming months, the growth in demand looks likely to continue to outstrip domestic supply.
