Asia Pacific: Price trends

October 2017

Northeast Asian spot LNG prices are set to climb higher as winter gets under way.

Buyers coming to the market in order to secure volumes ahead of the winter peak have driven up spot LNG prices in Asia in recent weeks. Spot LNG prices in Northeast Asia were up to around $8-8.5/MMBtu by mid-October, while cargoes for December delivery are around $9/MMBtu. Demand-side support for prices will drive further gains before the end of the year. GGA expects spot LNG prices in Northeast Asia to average around $8.8/MMBtu in Q4, and roughly $10/MMBtu in Q1 2018.
