Although exports are ramping up, Australian gas production could still struggle.
Australia’s domestic production growth levels have been weak compared with the export boom, and reduced revenues and new regulations could affect output in the future. Australian production rose by 9% year on year in February, while export volumes ramped up by 46%. Australia does not have a domestic supply obligation, and demand from the home market fell last year and in early 2016. But there are concerns about potential future production and supply availability for the home market.
