Low gas stocks will tighten supply in key US demand centres this winter.
Gas production in the US is set to decline on an annual basis during the winter, while the country’s demand for the fuel is expected to rise. Meanwhile, the US entered the 2017-2018 gas withdrawal season with less gas in stock than it had at the same time last year, which will tighten the market even further. The country had 102.62 bcm of gas in storage in the week ending 8 December, which was down by 5.3% on an annual basis. This was equivalent to 76% of the country’s storage capacity.
