The US and Canada risk severely depleting their gas stocks during the winter.
US gas demand is set to increase on an annual basis during the winter, driven by forecast harsh weather, while the country’s gas production is expected to fall. US storage operators have already struggled to replenish the storage volumes so far during the 2017 injection season as a result of weaker production. The situation could be exacerbated during the upcoming withdrawal season, which starts in November.
