An oversupplied global LNG market will remain a challenge for US exporters of the fuel.
The US relies heavily on the spot market to commercialise its LNG. Cargoes are traded either directly on the spot market by Cheniere’s marketing branch, or by portfolio players such as Shell that take LNG from the Sabine Pass plant under long-term contracts and sell it to end-users on a spot basis.
