Storage concerns will underpin the rise in Henry Hub futures prices in 2017.

Although US gas demand is expected to decline year on year in 2017, the country’s output is falling. This has hindered the pace of net injections so far during the current injection season, meaning the country’s gas stocks have dropped on an annual basis. This has increased the risk of regional gas supply tightness during the 2017-2018 withdrawal season, which will be a bullish factor for Henry Hub futures over the coming months.
