Increasing gas production in Argentina and Brazil will further dent their appetite for gas and LNG imports in 2017.
Gas demand in Argentina and Brazil remains under pressure, but their gross gas production is growing. Brazil’s increasing pre-salt gas output is supporting its overall production of the fuel. GGA estimates gross gas output from Brazil’s pre-salt acreage rose by almost 37% year on year in 2016, to 14.3 bcm, accounting for more than 37% of the country’s production. Brazil’s pre-salt output is expected to rise by 15% on an annual basis in 2017.
