US LNG export capacity will remain underutilised in 2017 despite the startup of Sabine Pass’s third train.
In November, Cheniere Energy received approval from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to introduce feed gas into its 4.5 mtpa third train at the Sabine Pass LNG plant. However, the train is not expected to enter commercial service until February 2017. Meanwhile, the first two trains are fully operational and the plant had exported 46 cargoes by the end of November. Sabine Pass Train 1 sent out its maiden shipment in February.
