Gas stocks in the US and Canada are set to deplete more quickly this winter than last, given the likelihood of colder temperatures.
The US is experiencing its worst gas glut since the Energy Information Administration started publishing storage data. Although the US gas withdrawal season typically starts in November, net injections are expected during the first half of the month as a result of mild weather. The US had 112.15 bcm of gas in stock in the week ending 28 October, a year-on-year increase of 1.2% and 4.6% higher than the five-year average.
