Peru’s gas production is increasing partly because of the rise in global oil prices since January.
Peru produces gas either in association with oil or from its condensate fields. Global oil prices have recovered since January, which is one reason for the rise in Peru’s gas output. Also, the government is promoting the use of gas domestically and is looking to maximise the country’s LNG export revenue by diversifying the destinations of Peruvian cargoes.
