Growing gas consumption from the US power and industrial sectors will boost the country’s overall gas demand in 2016.
The US power sector will remain the country’s most prominent driver of gas demand this year. Gas is gaining popularity in US power generation due to low prices. The US power sector consumed 83 billion cubic metres of gas in the first four months of 2016, a year-on-year increase of 7%. GGA expects the country’s gas-to-power demand to grow by 6.8% on an annual basis this year, to 292.2 bcm.
