Americas: Consumption

May 2016

Latin American gas demand growth is slowing as Brazil’s economic woes deepen and Argentina’s subsidy reforms weigh on its gas consumption.

The combined gas demand by key Latin American and Caribbean countries – Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Bolivia – increased by 1.8% in H1 2015, to 126.2 billion cubic metres. GGA expects it to rise by only 0.7% on an annual basis in H1 2016.
