The challenges faced by United States LNG exports are far from over as the country grapples with the problem of finding customers for its fuel. US LNG has been flooding markets in Latin America since the Sabine Pass plant started operations in February 2016. But with Latin American demand weakening, US exporters have been forced to despatch more shipments to Northeast Asia, where winter is supporting LNG consumption. Nevertheless, the trading environment is set to become more difficult during the shoulder months (March-May), when Asia’s LNG demand moderates.
