The UK’s latest capacity auction, which ended on 3 February, awarded capacity agreements for winter 2017-2018 amounting to 54.4 GW, according to provisional auction results from National Grid. The auction results are due to be confirmed by 11 February.
Gas retained the biggest share of the early capacity auction, accounting for 40.5% of the total awarded, with 22.1 GW. Coal and biomass came in second place, at 10.5 GW, representing 19.3% of the total.
