Retail energy prices have not fallen in line with wholesale market prices, particularly in the residential sector, an EU report says. (BP plc)

A recent analysis by the European Commission said that, while wholesale energy prices in the EU have fallen broadly in line with international spot prices, retail prices have typically not reflected this – particularly in the residential sector. 

The 20-page report on energy prices and costs in Europe is buried deep in the more than 1,000 pages of the commission’s Winter Package, a “jumbo bundle” of reports and appendices issued on 30 November which has significant implications for future EU energy policy.
