The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will drive regional gas demand in 2019.
The power sector will remain the biggest consumer among GCC countries, helped by its members’ growing dependence on the fuel. GGA estimates the GCC’s power sector consumed around 145 billion cubic metres of gas in 2018, accounting for almost 51% of the group’s overall gas demand. Gas consumption by the GCC’s power sector is forecast to increase by an average of 3.3% per year between 2018 and 2020.
